I get it. We live busy-filled lives. How can we take so much valuable time in our day to be silent, and sit in contemplation? The ritual of solitude can be as little as five minutes or as much as an hour or longer.

I always loved the quote, “If you don’t have time to meditate for 5 minutes, then meditate for an hour.” We live in a society where multi-tasking is admired.

When I take long drives, my car will signal me after approximately two hours of driving that I ought to take a rest break. Can you believe? My car is reminding me to take a minute to reset and recharge.

The Ritual of Solitude is sort of like a pit-stop for your mind and soul. A few minutes of silence will connect you to your own creative source.

Timelessness – It’s about getting present. No matter what you are doing, whether you are making a sandwich, listening to a podcast, reading an email, having a conversation etc., you are either mindful or mindless.

Mindlessness – An inactive state of mind that increases your chances of error. Mindfulness is a process of noticing new things, and as you notice things, it directs you in the present moment. Past and future disappear, and you are rooted into the timelessness of NOW. It can happen in an instant. That is the power of presence.

Flow – Ultimately, when you practice flow, you can accomplish more with less time. Learn smarter, read faster, and you will recall and retain information easily. That is the art of learning to flow.

Don’t take my word for it. Go ahead and try it.

Practice mindfulness.
Experience the present.
You will never have to make up for lost time.
